A CSPA Weekly News Letter, August 29th

AB 1806, the Delta Fisheries Rescue Bill, has cleared both the Assembly and Senate and is headed for the governor's desk.

Will Arnold veto the bill or just allow it to pass into law 12 days from Tuesday?

6,400 fish rescued at Caples Lake in joint CSPA/TU/DFG 72 hour operation

The CSPA/TU sponsored volunteer effort at Caples Lake resulted in the rescue of approximately 6,400 trout, a combination of rainbow, brown, brook and Mackinaw. Over 85 volunteers participated as well as 40 DFG personnel. The stories and photos are on the front page.

CSPA will have a booth at the San Mateo ISE.

The 2009 event is scheduled from January 8th through the 11th. More information will be available as the event date approaches. This year's show is featuring "Discover Fly Fishing Center."

Dan Blanton, A special friend of CSPA has scheduled his 11th annual Striperfest on Novermber 1, at Bethel Island

Over the years Dan has raised over $70,000 for defense of the delta, stripers and other fishery and conservation efforts. A good portion of last year's funds were donated to CSPA.

The Coalition for a Sustainable Delta has amended its suit. The "Striper Trial" is on again

The amended lawsuit was filed on the last acceptable day, just before the fat lady took her first breath to sing. CSPA has filed as an intervener in the trial on the behalf of California's angling community. The trial could create a major financial burden. A donation and membership drive is in the works.
