The "Coalition for a Sustainable Delta" files amended complaint in federal court!
The "Striper Trial" is back on the docket!

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 -- Waiting until the last moment, the Coalition for a Sustainable Delta, (actually Belridge Water Storage District, Berrenda Mesa Water District, Lost Hills Water District, and Wheeler Ridge-Maricopa Water Storage District) filed an amended complaint with the California Eastern District Federal 
 Court. The complaint alledges that the striped bass is a major cause in the decline of the valley's chinook salmon and delta smelt. The original complaint was dismissed by Judge Wanger on July 23rd. Caples Lake Fish Rescue Operation Starts Tuesday at Noon,
Daily updates and pictures will be posted on the website

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 -- The Caples Lake Fish Rescue will begin today. The rescue is a combined effort of CSPA, Trout Unlimited, DFG and the El Dorado Irrigation District. Over 80 volunteers will participate in the operation along with 35 Fish and Game Staff. EID is providing support in the form of campsites and a common  kitchen, with generator power available. A daily report on the rescue efforts will be posted  on the website as well as pictures.

Bureau of Reclamation conducts second fish rescue at Prospect Island,
Media request for volunteers bungled

Monday, August 25, 2008 -- Recently The Bureau of Reclamation discovered a pool of fish on Prospect Island that had survived through the winter and into this summer. The fish, were sure to perish if left alone.

Realizing the bad press that they had received last year, the bureau scheduled a fish rescue operation for Monday, 

  August 25, but the release for the operation appears to have been bungled since it didn't reach the mainstream press until Monday morning. The media release was actually sent out on the 22nd with the title, "Resend." The story can be found on the website under DFG, assisted by volunteers conducts another fish rescue at Prospect Island 

 

In other news...

DFG will graduate 28 new wardens this Friday, August 27th in Paradise California.
