The Tuolumne River is under assault, learn what
you can do at the free seminar, July 22nd.
July 11, 2008. The
Tuolumne River is under threat. Despite dramatic declines in
salmon and steelhead trout, the San Francisco Public Utilities
Commission has proposed diverting up to 25 million more gallons
of water per day (enough to fill 1,000 swimming pools every day)
from this “Wild and Scenic River.” With more than half of
the Tuolumne already diverted for urban and agricultural uses,
it’s time to focus greater attention on water conservation,
efficiency and recycling.
The Tuolumne River
Trust will conduct a free seminar on how you can help at the San
Mateo Public Library, 55 W. 3rd Avenue, San Mateo on Tuesday,
July 22, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. |
