Dan Blanton Sugar Barge Annual Free Delta Striper/LMB Clinic & BBQ on March 21; CSPA will be there to sign up new members at Dan's invitation

by Dan Blanton
Mark Saturday, March 21st on your calendar if you want to attend the annual Sugar Barge RV Resort and Marina free BBQ and Delta/Striper/LMB clinic.

This is a great event sponsored entirely by the Sugar Barge folks to promote their business and our wonderful California Delta and it's fisheries, particularly the striped bass and Largemouth bass fisheries.

The Sugar Barge this year is promoting the event as a "weekend" affair, encouraging folks to spend the entire weekend there, staying in their own RV or renting one of the Sugar Barge's several completely outfitted RVs. The idea of course, to attend the day-long event on Saturday and then go fishing on Sunday. If this is something you would like to do, then be sure to call the Sugar Barge to make a reservation for the space or rental RV.

We will again have slide presentations by myself and Captain Kevin Doran, there will be an updated presentation of the state-of-the-striper fishery and what's going on with the current striper issues. Bjorn Stromsness, will make a presentation on the current drought situation and of course CSPA's Mike McKenzie, Jerry Neuburger, Cory Cate and other's will be there too to give us the latest CSPA updates.

We will have a striper/LMB discussion panel similar to the very popular one I moderated at the ISE San Mateo show with panel guests including Kevin Doran, Dave sellers, Captain Mike Costello and myself and possibly more.

Ray Hutcherson from Sea Level FlyFishing will also be there to display and have available his many fine products; there will be fly-tying and more.

Dave Sellers will also be displaying some of his incredible art work, something you don't want to miss seeing.

Of course the Sugar Barge would like to show you their wonderful RV park and what they have to offer. You can go to the Sugar Barge Specials link to get discounts for a whole bunch of services so check that out too.

The event will start at 10:00 a.m. BBQ feed around noon or 1:00 p.m. depending upon how things go.

The Sugar Barge has been a huge supporter of this website and of Delta Fly anglers in general. I can think of no other delta RV park or Marina that has done more for us. They've supported and hosted our annual Striperfest for many years now, so please give them your support whenever you can; and, if you can make this event please respond to this post and sign up with the names of those who will be attending so we can get an accurate head count to be sure we have enough food and drink (Look down the bulletin board page for a post on this event's attendance and please post your name. Board membership is not required to post)

The event will be held in the resort Club House. Park in the Marina paring lot and walk in the back gate, if you are not staying at the park.

See you there - Saturday, March 21st.
